There is something about this page I really like. I think it's the simplicity of it. Or maybe it reminds me of the crossed stitched samplers.
The background is a paper napkin I received as happy mail. I mixed buff colored paint with embossing paste and stenciled the alphabet in the background. The hard part for me was waiting for the paste to dry. The dots are also molding paste through a piece of sequin waste.
To keep myself from messing up the paste I worked on hand cutting the bird from a piece of sticky back paper I rescued from a trash can. I had a small bird so I set it on the paper to get the idea of the shape. I love his long legs. I painted him blue and then used a modge podge stencil and iridescent paint for the design. I added a light coat blue paint to tone the shine down a bit.

How incredibly creative you are! I can't imagine how you came up with this from all the bits of things you used to create it. Amazing--you're a genius!
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely, great colours and texture. Valerie

Thank you. Now that you say that it does remind me a bit of tapestry
DeleteVery cleaver. I really like this. It feel commercial to me, like it could be a poster for some company.

DeleteI love that that you viewed it as "rescuing" the paper from the trash can...lovely piece, waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
