Dragonflies

I had a craft day with my friends, Theresa and Ann. It was so fun to have them at my place. My only issue was Theresa still wants to dye my white dog purple. Scooter is still white I'm happy to announce.

This page took me hours. I had trouble getting into the grove. It started out with most of the background the green you see in the middle of the page. I used Dylusions ink in yellow, blue and green and just wasn't happy with it. The dragonflies (Tim Holtz new dragonfly and embossing folder set) totally disappeared into the background. I couldn't add anything wet on top of it or the color would run.  I decided to paint the whole thing with matte medium to seal it.

From there I started adding Brilliance ink to the background straight from the ink pad. I used my fingers to ink the areas the ink pad wouldn't reach. The background is a combination of Pearlescent Blue, Violet and Pink Brilliance Ink.  I used some of same colors on the dragonflies and then used Studio G Glitter glue on top of each dragonfly. The bamboo was stenciled with Golden's Coarse Embossing Paste and the colored with Inktense Pencils (I did not add any water to the Inktense). The words are a Dyan Reaveley stamp.

This is another page done in my altered Word Perfect manual. There is just something about that big book with the wrinkled pages.  I love working in it. It is very freeing.

  4. Boo, I think it's beautiful, but I cannot imagine what your fingers looked like after painting with them.

  7. Thank you for the details. I have some of these supplies and it's hard to figure out how to use them until I see the actual work and hear the story. Beautiful picture. Dragon flies are a favorite. I see them when I walk. Blessings, Janet PPF
