Repeating Elements In My Journal

The theme this week for the Documented Life Project is Repeating Elements.  I realized that I often repeat the same element several times on my art journal pages. I usually repeat things at least three times or if more an uneven number of times.

This page has several layers of paint on the substrate. I used yellow and then I dripped Neon purple. Then I used a paint brush to move the paint a bit more. This page started out vertical and somehow ended up horizontal.  That's typical of my work. It evolves as I go along.

The diamonds are a Patti Parrish stencil from Istencil and embossing paste mixed with purple craft paint. The blue flowers are a stencil I bought at one of the big box hobby stores and craft paint.  The white circles are made with a smashed toilet paper roll and gesso.  The large flowers are made with my new Donna Downey stencil also from Istencil and neon purple craft paint.

I outlined the flowers with Inktense pencils to make them pop.  I also added a bit of Inkense pencil to the white ovals because they were a bit too white. Grunging them a little sent them to the background.
