Tim's Butterflies

Journal52's prompt for week one was Up, Up and Away.  That brought to mind butterflies and hot air balloons.  I recently bought a piece of Tim Holtz fabric so I went with the butterflies.  This is pretty much a Tim product page.  The butterflies are Tim Holtz fabric, the ink is Ranger Distressed Ink and I used two of Tim's Stencils for the background on the left side.

The barbed wire background was done by cutting out a stencil using the Crafter's Workshop barbed wire die.  Kid's stiff paint brushes were used to stippled all the ink.  The time stencil was found in my friend, Ann's, stash of stencil goodness.

I took a water color class last weekend. I'm not going to be a water color artist that's for sure. I did learn a bit about color blending and so I used only blue, pink and yellow ink on this page. I love how blending the distressed ink made the green and purple.

I dyed the fabric butterflies using the distressed ink too.  Warning... colored fingers always follow using distressed ink.

This is probably going to be my last post for a couple of weeks.  I'm having thumb surgery and I think typing might be an issue for a week or two.  If I can figure out how to do art one handed I might just post pictures and no words... that would be a first for me.

I'll be back as soon as I can!!!
