Books and Warm Fuzzy

The challenge in Artist Play Room is books.  Anything about books.  I don't draw much but I thought I'd try my hand at drawing books.  The stack of books and the open notebook were a real challenge to me.  I'm glad I took the time to look at line drawings and worked on reproducing what I saw.  I think drawing is a lot about what I actually see.

The bookmark is doing double duty.  I was challenged to make something that would make me feel warm and fuzzy and it's about books.

  1. thanks for entering, no problem that its late, it can always be in this week's APR. it's great that you're trying the drawing thing, as Danny Gregory says who writes great help books for beginning drawers, just draw what you see and you'll improve as you go. He thinks dating your drawings in your sketchbook allows you to see your progress. Have a great sunday.

  2. I think these are fab Boo. I too 'don't draw' but did have a go a few challenges ago. I said I would keep trying but actually haven't 'had time'. I like what Jenn quoted above from Danny Gregory. Now I just need to 'make' the time to practice :0) Mo x

  7. I have had a block about me and my drawing, yet I notice it is gradually drifting away. I think what Jenn shared about dating your stuff and seeing the progress is spot on.

what I DO know personally is that drawing is a skill, like reading, writing, singing, even talking, that will improve as it BEcomes more of who you are every day. it may NOT improve in a way YOU think is an improvement [again, solely personal experience here] but it will improve.xoxo

  9. Both the drawing and the bookmark are great Bo,
I find myself being stretched by some of the APR challenges, but that's a good thing. They take us on a journey we didn't know we could do and sometimes the destination is a surprise but turns out to be delightful.
Continue to have fun and that's all that matters! :D
