Summer of Color Week 1

I love this stamp. It's made by ERA and was given to me by a friend.  There is just something about that happy girl dancing that makes me smile.

The Summer of Color Project begins this week. The first set of colors are Yellow, Aqua and a touch of hot pink. Those are happy colors to me and that's why I chose the dancing girl.

The background is yellow craft paint. The girl is embossed with aqua embossing powder.  The pink accents are a pink glitter sharpie.

  4. Hi Boo,

I like the stamp, too. Looks like that girl is having great fun. Great image to use on Summer of Color.

Thanks for stopping by to see my SOC image. You said you wanted to learn Photoshop. For beginners, I recommend a book that I use. (I've been using PS for over 25 years, but I still learn things about it.) It's called "Photoshop ______ Top 100 Simplified Tips and Tricks" ---fill in the blank with your version of Photoshop (Elements 8, Elements 11, CS5, CC, etc.)

Each tip is labeled by difficulty level. It's easy to follow.
It shows images of the screen and places a number where you can find the tool you need to do a particular step. (If I don't use a tool often, sometimes I spend 5 minutes looking for it ---but with this book, you can see right where it is.) The actual book is less than $20 at amazon.com, Kindle version about $14 ---depending on which version you need.

The beginning gives hints on setting up the desktop, tools, etc. the way you like them.

There are lots of tutorials online, too ---so you can type what you are looking for, plus "Photoshop tutorial." Some are written steps and some on YouTube. (Although I'm a visual learner, I prefer the written steps so I don't have to keep stopping the video or starting over.)

  10. Very impressive beginning. What got me was the embossing. I can't get a good embossed image for anything. I seem to leave little bits around that don't belong, even though I try to use an anti static bag. Really enjoyed this one.

    1. I did use the static bag and it worked better than it ever has before. Not sure why. With Art Journals I don't care if I get speckles... It adds to the distressed look. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
