21 Trains

The trees are part of a Craft's Workshop stencil. The track bed was made by painting paper with grey paint and then using a kitchen scrubbie to dab white and black paint to resemble limestone rocks.  The railroad ties are painted with burnt sienna on kraft colored paper. The rails are satin ribbon colored with Tim Holtz silver metallic paint.

I used maroon paint on the train cars because I remember watching many cars that color go by growing up in Memphis.
Whenever I visit my dad, I listen to the trains.  This was the first time I've been there during the week in a long time. I commented on the number of trains and he told me that 21 trains go by each day. I love hearing the sound of the wheels clacking on the rails. My dad's house is situated between to cross streets so when the trains go by we get a really long train whistle warning of the train's passing. That sound makes me so happy. It's comforting to hear the train whistle.  It's a sound of home.

  4. Wow, what a lot of trains. I would never get the wee fella away from the window, or inside the house. He'd have all the engine and wagon numbers memorised and the times and he'd know if they're late, haha. It's a hobby. haha.
I love how you created this page Boo and that it provides so man memories for you as well as the pleasure of creating it. That tree stencil is fab :D x

    1. I very seldom hear a train where I live so I really enjoy them when I'm home and can see and hear them.
