Recycle Cereal Box

My friend, Mo, over at Twinkle's Twaddle has been making a magazine holder out of cereal box.  It sounded like fun so I decided to give it a try.

I used a large Cheerios Box taping the bottom half with masking tape to give it a little extra strength.  I painted it with gesso and then buff paint. The flowers are painted with craft paints.

I made texture on the lower half heating the paint until it bubbled. The dots were made with a pencil eraser and the lines were made with the edge of a credit card.

This is the first side I've finished. I might do something different on the other side.  This is a very different kind of project for me and I really enjoyed it.

  1. Hi Boo
Well you are in for a busy weekend! I can just see you paintbrush in hand, finishing off your cereal box, whilst munching on a mountain of Cheerios, with a stack of magazines beside you, waiting to be read so you can proudly display in your wonderful new magazine holder!
    Have fun!

  2. Hy Boo - love the texture. I have to make something with texture for a challenge. So this can hold magazines? We get out Cheerios from Sam's in a big box. Your colors are really pretty!
