Be on the Lookout for your next Artist Canvas

I just love found objects.  They make great art.  Today I opened a large box of copy machine toner.   The big box was filled with crunched up kraft paper.  In the past, I've thrown the paper in the recycle bin.

Today I saw it with new eyes.  I saw it as a canvas for my art. I wrestled this huge thing of paper into submission and finally got it folded so I could bring it home.  There was a 8 inch long strip left over so I doodled on it between phone calls, answering the door and typing.

I like it so much I did two more strips when I got home this afternoon.  I added colored pencil, some white gel pen, a bit of metallic marker and a hint of picket fence and this is the result.  To continue on my stretching path, I wandered into the front bedroom and sewed the strips together.   Many years ago I bought a made in India patch work shirt at a flea market.  This page reminds me of that shirt.

  1. I remember when those shirts were popular! Yes. It does kind of remind me of that! What a great way to reduce, reuse and recycle!

  2. Sewing the pieces together was a brilliant brainwave! They look fantastic. It's great that you've turned garbage into something beautiful.
