Is My Muse Returning?

Left:  My muse my have returned.  I finished my page I post yesterday.  I added some shading around the birds and flowers using my blue Stabilo All pencil. It is water soluble so it makes it easy to pull out the color with a water brush.  My final touch was another Carolyn Dube idea. She often journals with a white pen using a giant flowing style.  I am really happy how it turned out.  I used a white Sharpie Poster Marker. I had to use it last because it is not water proof.  

Right:  I had leftover paint from the left page so I added it and some left over pieces of the gelli print to the page on the right. I cut ovals and triangles freehand and glued them randomly to a pre-gessoed page. I added the blue paint and then stenciled with homemade stencils & gesso on top of all that. I had no plan, I was just playing around. After it sat over night I decided to add the flowers as a focal point.  I like how pieces of the background peak through the petals. It order to make the flowers pop, I painted the blue around the flowers in a style I'd seen on a Dina Wakley video.  The background was a little boring so I added numbers and letters from my Crafter's Workshop Eye Chart stencil.  When all of that was dry, I outlined my flowers with a Signo Broad Black Gel Pen.

Dancing Man and the Gelli Plate

I have a wonderful and very generous friend name Robin.  
She just bought several Dina Wakely stencils and she let me borrow this dancing man.  

I had a blast today playing with my Gelli Plate and this stencil.  The page on the right is my very first page in my Dyan Reaveley Art Journal (another gift from Robin).

I made this page by placing the the cityscape that I cut a while back and the dancing man on the Gelli Plate before I applied paint.  Then I applied the green paint.  I printed it on a piece of paper that already had some blue paint on it from a previous pull. I love the way the stencil makes a outline when you brayer over it.

The page on the left was done with my latest found stencil/mask.  I put the stencil down on the Gelli Plate that still had some white paint on it.  Then I brayered over it with
orange and yellow craft paint. Then I pressed the found stencil on op of that.  Next, I pulled both stencils off and made the print.  I love how the white just pops against the orange/yellow background. My newest found stencil is a place mat I found at the Dollar Tree.  It has a really distinct pattern that is raised.  It turned out so great.  I love this one.


The right one is done the same way except the Gelli Plate didn't have much paint left on it when I put the masks down.  I put the man and the I used a piece of fake greenery that I bought at the Dollar Tree.  It looked like tall grass rolled up.  I cut it up to make it unroll.  That is how I got the ray looking background.    I'm having a great time with my Gelli plate and stencils.  Sure wish Robin had been here with her Gelli Plate.
